Mariette Lieferink:

Liefferink is playing a leading role in exposing and demanding action to deal with the acid mine drainage problem in Gauteng – which many in government and mining houses were trying to ignore. This has been highly demanding of her time, intellect and energy which she has given freely, fiercely and effectively over a long period of time. Mariette has taken on a wide range of other environmental responsibilities –as she holds official positions on many environmental advisory boards, steering committees and management teams – all dealing with environmental challenges. 

Marius Claassen:

Marius Claassen is an aquatic ecologist, with broad experience in the fields of water resource assessment, risk assessment and decision support systems.

As Principal Scientist, Dr Claassen manages the water governance research portfolio at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), South Africa.
