Green Building Conference 2013

At the first Green Building Conference 7 years ago the key issues that building designers needed to address were energy, water and resource efficiency; and human and environmental health. Sharing knowledgeand developing competence in these key building performance indicators remains the focus of Green Building 2013, but with some stark differences in intensity and focus.
Enough has been said about global context, policy and advocacy – Green Building 2013 will focus squarely on the implementation of design strategies and the specification of materials and technologies empowering delegates to commission, design, construct and operate buildings that achieve and exceed specific standards and objectives.

Perrau’s most recent award winning building is designed entirely out of corrugated iron, similar to what the fishermen live in in Reunion, but with a twist – this corrugated iron repels heat by reflecting sunlight with an external foil layer and an inner insulating layer of non heat conducting material. The house has a unique ultra simple yet high tech aesthetic.
This year energy efficiency in buildings standard SANS 204 becomes mandatory – its technical terms and performance levels are not dissimilar to those pursued by Perrau and his contemporaries in Reunion Island. Share his insights during Module 3 – Energy Efficiency in Buildings at the Green Building Conference 2012.
